I’m Jamie Staley, better known behind the decks as Jam EightyTwo.
I came into this scene first and foremost because I love trance. I was the bloke on the dancefloor, travelling to events, supporting DJs and promoters and probably talking far too much about tunes with anyone who would listen.
Somewhere along the way, being on the other side of the decks started becoming a much bigger part of it.
What began simply as wanting to play the music I love has gradually led to opportunities to play at some brilliant grassroots trance events, alongside people I’d previously been turning up to watch myself.
2026 has been a big step forward, with bookings for events including Trance In Motion, Captivated, RUB!C and Digbeth Rewind, and more recently I’ve joined the Trance Central team alongside Chris Crouch and Dazzle P.
That feels like a natural fit for me because I’ve never really seen DJing as being separate from the wider scene. I still enjoy turning up, supporting other DJs, discovering music and being part of the crowd just as much as I enjoy getting behind the decks.
Musically, I’m not interested in tying myself down to one tiny corner of trance. My sets can move through the more melodic and uplifting side of the genre into something faster and more driving when the room calls for it.
The important bit for me is that a set has somewhere to go.
I’ve also been putting mixes out online and continuing to develop my own sound as I get more time behind the decks and more opportunities to play different rooms and different crowds.
I’m still relatively early in that journey, and I’m quite happy being honest about that.
I’m Jamie. I love trance, I love this scene, and right now I’m enjoying seeing where it all takes me.
