I've been involved in the UK trance scene for many years, both behind the decks and in the studio, with a history that goes back to the early days of my productions under the name Med.
Some people will remember me best for my work alongside Neil Bamford as Med vs Neil Bamford. Together, we released tracks including One, Stolen, Light Up and Last Stand on labels such as Abora Recordings, Infrasonic Recordings and Perceptive Recordings. Our productions picked up support from some of the biggest names in trance, including plays on Armin van Buuren's A State of Trance radio show.
That partnership also led to a residency with Digital Society, one of the UK's best-known trance brands, and opportunities to play at events around the country. It was an exciting period to be involved in trance, particularly with the strength of the UK club scene and the community surrounding it.
These days, I'm playing under the name CGMedlock, bringing that experience and musical background back behind the decks.
I've never really believed that a trance set needs to be about playing one particular style from start to finish. For me, it's about the music, the progression of a set and knowing how to take a dancefloor on a journey.
Having been involved in trance for so long, it's good to still be part of a scene that has given me so much over the years, whether that's playing at events such as Timescape Festival or getting back behind the decks alongside familiar faces from the UK trance community.
There's a lot of history behind the name Med, but as CGMedlock, the focus is still very much on the music.
